ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment on Wednesday supported the advancement of Lahore High Court's (LHC) Justice Ayesha Malik to a Supreme Court's (SC) judge, Geo News revealed.

The council, under the chairmanship of Farooq Hamid Naek, chose to support Justice Ayesha's rise, per the report.

As indicated by Farooq Naek, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on January 7 supported the assignment of Justice Ayesha Malik for her arrangement as the Supreme Court judge with a vote of five out of nine.

He further said that the court isn't annulling the strategy to select adjudicators in view of their rank, adding that Malik would be the primary lady to turn into an SC judge and "she would help the country".

Whenever named, Malik will be the main female Supreme Court judge in the legal history of Pakistan.

It is relevant to make reference to here that Justice Ayesha Malik is positioned fourth in the Lahore High Court as far as rank.

The Pakistan Bar Council had pronounced a negative mark against the arrangement of Justice Ayesha Malik.

Out of the 17 adjudicators delegated in the Supreme Court, Justice Ayesha Malik has been selected for the seat which became empty after the retirement of Justice Mushir Alam on August 17.

Boss equity of Pakistan and boss equity LHC had proposed the name of Justice Ayesha, to which she additionally concurred recorded as a hard copy.
